How Powerful is the GMC Sierra HD?
The "HD" of the Sierra HD stands for Heavy Duty, and this truck certainly delivers on its promise of heavy-duty strength! For the 2024 model year, the Sierra HD is offering two different powertrain options to suit your towing and hauling needs. The standard engine for the lineup is a 6.6-liter V8 gas engine, paired with a new Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine is rated at 401 horsepower, and 464 lb-ft of torque, and helps you achieve peak towing ability. For the 2500 model, you can enjoy a maximum towing capacity of up to 22,500 pounds, while the 3500 has a maximum towing capacity of up to 36,000 pounds! If you prefer the muscle of a diesel engine, you're in luck! Most of the lineup offers a second available engine option, which is the 6.6L Duramax Turbo Diesel V8, rated at an incredible 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft of torque.
What are the Design Features of the Sierra HD?
There is a total of six trim levels within the Sierra HD's 2024 trim level lineup. Each of these trim levels has a unique set of standard and available features, so you can choose either a simple and utilitarian work truck, a truly luxurious vehicle, and everything in between! The base trim is called the Pro, which comes with features like LED headlights, and a heavy-duty air filter. The SLE adds a standard MultiPro tailgate, while the SLT offers available 20-inch wheels. The AT4 has bold and distinctive looks, including heated and ventilated leather seats, off-road shocks and suspension, and standard 20-inch wheels. The Denali is up next, and features real open-pore wood trim, and premium leather upholstery. The Denali Ultimate takes things to the next level with features like 16-way power-adjustable front seats with massaging.
